NATALIE PLEIS, 1968
Artist - Painter
Although she was born in Ghent, she finds herself quickly travelling in-between France and Belgium. First in Lille, then in Paris where she studied art history. She quickly started restoring furniture in marquetry. Then focuses on patinas, where time seems to pass. This is what led her to create paintings on wood, which play with materials such as: stone, marble, wood, earth and even water. Always abstract with a touch of illusion. The illusion of the sea, dawn, fire, ... Always inspired by nature. The artist uses only natural or metallic pigments applied with a palette, never a paintbrush and never revealing how the painting has been created.
